A Peek Into Coolers
The Dr Pepper Museum is excited to announce the opening of a new exhibit: A Peek Into Coolers. The exhibit will open on April 21, 2012, and is scheduled to run through the end of the year. The exhibit will highlight the history, use, function, and cultural impact of portable coolers and will feature interactive components. Visitors will get the chance to see a new side of the American portable cooler. They will get to see coolers that are over half a century old, the inside of a cooler that has been cut in half, and they will get to test their strength by lifting the weight of a 1940s-era metal cooler.
This exhibit was created by Museum Studies graduate students from Baylor University as part of an exhibit design class. The students were given the opportunity to research, design, and install the exhibit to gain hands-on experience. The Museum's executive director, Jack McKinney, said, "The Dr Pepper Museum is pleased to continue its partnership with the Baylor University Museum Studies students. The Museum has enjoyed a close relationship with the Museum Studies program for many years, and this relationship has proved beneficial for both the Museum and the students involved."
Mark your calendars! This is one you won't want to miss.
